Despite the general affluence of Solihull, local government statistics show homelessness is a real issue in the area, which disproportionately affects young people.
We have a range of specific services tailored to the needs of homeless young people in Solihull, but we want to do much more. That’s where you come in – events like this can really help us raise awareness and funds. The SleepOut is free to take part; all we ask is that you try to raise as much money as possible by asking people to sponsor you so we can use the money to help prevent youth homelessness in Solihull and the wider West Midlands.
Creative Cardboard Competition
Although our SleepOuts are a way to help us raise money to prevent youth homelessness in the region, we also want to make sure that the people taking part have a worthwhile experience. Food is provided thanks to our supporters LangarAid, and we provide entertainment during the evening, but the real highlight is the Creative Cardboard Competition.
You’ll be given a cardboard box each, thanks to our supporters Schumacher, and because this event is covered you can really go-to-town on designing your creative cardboard shelter. To do our bit for the planet, we are not issuing plastic bags for the Solihull SleepOut because event takes place in a covered space. But you are welcome to bring your own materials, provided they can be easily recycled.
And there are prizes for the best creations of the evening!
|First prize is a family ticket to Cadbury World. And we have a special trophy for the best entry from a school/college too.|
After the event we will put photos of the event online and email you your special Solihull SleepOut 2020 certificate of achievement.
Photos from last year
