Coventry Sleepout F.A.Q.

Q: What is the event?
A: It is a charity fundraising event where people volunteer to sleep rough for a night and help raise money to prevent youth homlessness.

Q: Where is it?
A: Inside the old ruins of Coventry Cathedral which has no roof, so the whole event takes place outside.

Q: When does it start?
A: All St Basils Sleepout events start at 6pm and finish at 6am the following moring.

Q: What should I wear?
A: Please bring sensible clothing for sleeping outside. Lots of thin layers and a water proof outer layer.

Q: Can I bring a sleepouing bag?
A: Yes. We encourage people to bring sleeping bags, roll mats and blankets if it helps them sleep better. But please make sure you take these things with you when you leave.

Q: Can I bring my own cardboard?
A: Yes. We encourgae people to bring their own cardboard and other materials to help built the best dwelling they can. There is a prize for the dwelling judged 'best' on the night. BUT, YOU MUST NOT BRING WOOD, METAL OR PLASTIC!

Q: Are there toilets?
A: Yes. The toilets are in the crypt underneeth the cathedral and a member of security will escourt you to and from them.

Q: Is food and water provided?
A: There is free hot food and drink available until 11pm. So if you wnat anything after that time please bring some stuff yourself.

Q: Can we bring alcohol?
A: No. Drink and drug use are striclty prohibited and anyione seen using them could be asked to leave the site.

Q: Can we bring pets?
A: No. 


Q: What if the weather is bad?
A: If the weather has a Yellow weather waring 48 hours before the event we will inform everyone to check on the event website for updates. If the weather waring chages to Amber within 24 hours we will postpone the event and rearange it for another time.

Q: How many people in a team?
A: We would like to keep groups to a maximum of 20 people, but individulas are most welcome as well.

Q: What about parking?
A: ​We do not provide parking but there is plenty of public parking not too far from the cathedral in Coventry city centre.
