Following a request made through our social media networks for food donations to help young people we are working with, Greggs PLC have contacted us to offer end of day food donations. Greggs have offered this as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility strategy.
Staff based at our 36 bed accommodation scheme in Highgate in Birmingham, housing young single people aged 16-25 and young mums with children, are now collecting from Greggs nearest store regularly.
A Greggs representative said: "We are keen to increase our donations of unsold food through our End of Day Food Donations scheme and so help others while reducing waste. We are happy to help any organisation that can make use of our unsold food. Many of our shops have already linked up with local Foodbanks, Shelters and Soup Kitchens."
Chantel Edwards, Manager of Conybere Gardens in Highgate, the project now collecting these donations said: "This is wonderful. It's a win-win really and an easy way for us to treat our young people for free. Thank you very much Greggs!"
