Lisa Brooks rowed the river Rhine to help St Basils
06 NOV 2015

Huge thanks to St Basils supporter Lisa Brooks who has raised over £300 for St Basils by taking on her own sponsored challenge to row the river Rhine with three of her friends as part of an organised marathon event on 3rd October 2015. Each member of the crew chose a charity and because Lisa’s background is in Housing she chose to support St Basils.

The challenge was to row from Levekhusen to Dusseldorf to cover 26.6miles. The row took over 3 hours non-stop. The crew received a prize at the event for being the only all women's crew to row the marathon in a sweep boat (with one oar each).

Here they are photographed with their German cox Markus. Lisa is pictured second from left.

"It was a really great event, the actual row was amazing, the final 8k was hard and the waves got pretty big but the sun was shining and we kept our spirits up singing "Jerusalem" at about the 28k mark.

It was good but the muscles were sore! The back and legs certainly knew about it but it was the blisters on the hands that were the most uncomfortable! But it was really good fun and the atmosphere was awesome!"

There's still time to sponsor Lisa to show your support: https://www.justgiving.com/Lisa-Brooks2
