Coffee shops in Birmingham's city centre and Moseley have agreed to help us raise awareness of #WorldHomelessDay by distributing these coffee sleeves on their coffee cups on the morning of 10th October.
Coffee shops including:
The sleeves help raise awareness of the 'cycle of homelessness' where once homeless, people will struggle to get a job, but without a job they'll struggle to get a home. It's a vicious circle and can sometimes disproportionately affect young people who have fewer skills and experience to draw upon.
As well as providing support and accommodation to the 1200 young people we house per year, we also support young residents and those at risk of homelessness back into education, training and employment.
We receive no government funding for this service. We are wholly dependent on donations and that's why we're also raising awareness of our BIG Birmingham SleepOut which will also be held in the heart of the city at Birmingham Cathedral off Colmore Row on Friday 25th November. Everything raised through this sponsored challenge will go towards furthering this aim; helping young people back into education, training and ultimately employment so that they can break the cycle of homelessness and move on successfully with their lives.
