Redditch Rotary and the Midlands Youth Jazz Orchestra (MYJO) held a Christmas concert on 7th December at Trinity High School in Redditch to raise funds for both MYJO and St Basils Redditch schemes.
The Big Band concert featured 20 musicians, aged 18-25, which included a barbers shop quartet and a young female soloist and raised a grand total of £2850, with £1425 going to St Basils, far exceeding our expectations for this event.
Malcolm Jones of Redditch Rotary said: "The concert was a complete sell out and went down like a storm with top notes! It is to be repeated next year by popular demand. Over £2850 was raised from this event being divided equally between MYJO. to assist with their music education and St Basils young homeless charity based in Redditch with in house living accommodation and to find employment for these youngsters".
Head of Fundraising Barrie Hodge said: "Thanks so much to Redditch Rotary for their on-going support and to the very talented MYJO as well as everyone who went along. This is a terrific amount which will go a long way to assisting our services to young people in Redditch".
