The running season is amongst us.   Already scores of people have taken part in LONDON marathon for us. We were lucky enough to catch up with Christine Howrie – one of our London Marathon runners. Christine raised over £2000 for St Basils running the marathon in 4 hours 40 minutes. Christine who works for Birmingham City Council says:

An experience never to be forgotten, a bit like childbirth or getting married!   However regardless of the effort put into both training and the marathon run itself this amounts to nothing compared with the daily efforts put in by the workers and volunteers at St Basils for which all in the Birmingham area should be proud.  I am grateful to have been given the opportunity to run the London Marathon and in doing so, to make a contribution to a very worthwhile cause. Keep up the good work St Basils.”

A huge thanks to Christine, Matt Ford, Sarah Yorke, Richard Eastope, David Baldock and Matt Watts for such an amazing achievement and for supporting us.

We have our very own team of St Basil’s runners who have already taken part in Simplyhealth Great Birmingham 10K in April.

The same team are set to run again in the Great Midlands Fun run in June which is 8.5 miles in June. With 2 of the team using these ‘smaller’ runs as a way of training for the Birmingham International Marathon in October covering a total of 26.2 miles! What an amazing achievement. Good luck team!
