On Saturday 22nd July 2017 120 people gathered together to join us and St Marys Hospice for the first ever Sunset Squad Relay event to raise money for 2 amazing causes.
The event started at midday and seen 25 teams pass the baton every 5k to another team member, this carried on until 9pm.
Barrie Hodge, head of fundraising and communications for St Basils said, "This was a wonderful collaboration between two of Birminghams most well-known charities. We were delighted to work with Birmingham St Marys Hospice and very much look forward to the next Sunset Squad Relay next year."
Lucy Watkins St Marys Hospice Birmingham said, “It was great to have the opportunity to work with St Basils on the first ever Sunset Squad Relay run. It was a new concept for both charities and despite the rain we were delighted to welcome over 100 runners who between them completed an amazing 275 laps of the undulating course. We look forward to working with the team at St Basils again next year and welcoming our runners back to see if they can complete the challenge once again”.
On behalf of both charities we would like to thank everyone that took part and raised money for both causes and we are very much looking forward to next year!
