The Coventry SleepOut 2017 took place on Friday 15th September in the scenic grounds of Coventry Cathedral for the third year in a row.

50+ people volunteered to sleep rough for the night to raise money to prevent youth homelessness in Coventry. Entertainment was provided by Tomes PR which included Mr Showbiz, Lilian P, Magic For Everyone. Even the British weather stayed dry for the evening!

Amongst the volunteers was Marcus Jones MP, Councillors Tim Mayer, Peter Male, Marcus Lapsa and Randhir Auluck.

Langar Aid do a lot of work feeding the homeless not only in the West Midlands but world-wide and were there on the evening providing food and drink to all the sleepers. Greggs Coventry were kind enough to provide breakfast for all sleepers.

‘The Coventry SleepOut was a massive success. The feedback has been so positive, we are so lucky to have so many wonderful and generous people support such a great cause. The sense of community on the evening was overwhelming as local networks came together to make the evening so enjoyable for everyone. We would like to thank everyone that attended the Coventry SleepOut,  Barry Tomes at Tomes PR who arranged all the entertainment, Langar Aid and Greggs for providing food.’ - Sian Dhillon, St Basils Coventry Fundraising Officer

We caught up with a sleeper after the SleepOut who said ‘It was an amazing event and good to see local councillors attending, the food was brilliant, the music was brilliant in fact everything was brilliant. The event was well organised and I will defiantly be attending the next SleepOut in November in Birmingham to raise money for such a great cause.’

The next SleepOut will be happening in the grounds of Birmingham Cathedral on Friday 24th November, register here
