St Basil’s has an exciting opportunity for an Outreach Navigation Worker to initiate contact with young rough sleepers and those at risk of rough sleeping, via street outreach.

 

Salary: SCALE 6, POINT 26-28, £22,376 – 23,873 PER ANNUM

Since 2017, with the introduction of the Homeless Reduction Act, Local authorities were required to further develop their Prevention and Relief of homelessness by introducing additional statutory duties to assist all who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.  With the Rough Sleeper Initiative (RSI) funding introduced in 2018 this was extended to provide a bespoke young person’s outreach navigation service, aimed at reducing the levels of young people sleeping rough in the city.

St Basils has been commissioned to deliver the RSI Outreach Navigators to provide a service to young people found to be rough sleeping or at risk of rough sleeping in Birmingham. 

 

The RSI Outreach Navigator will work directly with the Rough Sleeping Outreach Team, associated operational sub groups and the Birmingham Children’s Trust. The local authorities we work with recognize that the most effective response  provided for young people is through partnership working to maximize the effective use of resource, staff skills and expertise to provide the best possible accommodation and support options to prevent homelessness.

 

The main purpose of the role is:

 

– To engage with rough sleepers to enable risk and needs assessments to be carried out to identify and manage any risks and needs identified.

 

– To work directly with the Rough Sleeper Outreach team and in partnership with statutory agencies in order to ensure statutory duties are met

 

– To ensure Housing Needs Assessments and Personal Housing Plans are completed in line with the Homelessness Reduction Act.

 

– To support young people to return home or secure alternative suitable accommodation to prevent rough sleeping.

 

– To undertake case management work with the young people, and assist those to sustain any accommodation secured.

 

– Identify appropriate agencies who will provide ongoing support prior to ceasing support and that this will be sustainable to prevent repeat homelessness

The RSI Outreach Navigator will work directly with the Rough Sleeping Outreach Team, associated operational sub groups and the Birmingham Children’s Trust. The local authorities we work with recognize that the most effective response  provided for young people is through partnership working to maximize the effective use of resource, staff skills and expertise to provide the best possible accommodation and support options to prevent homelessness.

The RSI Outreach Navigator will work directly with the Rough Sleeping Outreach Team, associated operational sub groups and the Birmingham Children’s Trust. – To support young people to return home or secure alternative suitable accommodation to prevent rough sleeping.

 

– To undertake case management work with the young people, and assist those to sustain any accommodation secured.

 

– Identify appropriate agencies who will provide ongoing support prior to ceasing support and that this will be sustainable to prevent repeat homelessness
