Jay is a Chartered Construction Manager and Group Head at Baily Garner, where he leads a national team of 30 Quality Control Inspectors. His responsibilities span managing the group’s budget, developing new business, enhancing service delivery, and nurturing team growth.
Jay’s professional journey began in the British Army, where he served on operations overseas. After leaving the military, he transitioned into construction, working his way up from tradesman to management roles before moving into consultancy. His determination and self-taught approach led him to achieve Chartered status with the CIOB — a milestone he is particularly proud of, having had limited formal education.
Among his notable achievements, Jay played a key role in securing and delivering One Eastside in Birmingham — the tallest residential building outside London. He also led a team of 20 colleagues in completing the Three Peaks Challenge, raising over £10,000 for the Clive Smith Foundation.
Jay joined the Board of St Basil’s driven by a strong belief that no child should grow up experiencing homelessness. He is passionate about creating opportunities for young people and believes that the right support at the right time can transform lives.
In addition to his professional work, Jay mentors ex-forces personnel entering the construction industry and is a trained Mental Health First Aider.
