A former resident and now a volunteer peer mentor Thelma has been associated with St Basils since 2015 and became a Co-opted Director in September 2018.

Thelma has experienced homelessness first hand and was supported by St Basil’s helping with accommodation and financial planning via what she describes as ‘an amazing floating support worker’ who encouraged her to return to college.

As a result of her positive experience Thelma started working with the St Basils Youth Voice team in 2016, mentoring new members, and taking part in consultations. Thelma is also a member of the Youth Homeless Parliament and has attended for the last three years.

She is studying psychology at the University of Derby.
