Basil’s month is a new way local food and drink venues can assist our cause to prevent youth homelessness

During the month of November, St Basils is asking local food and drink venues to put on a basil-themed dish (or drink!) of your choice and help raise money to support young people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, by donating a percentage of the profits.

Who: Your venue
What: A charity dish / drink on the menu
When: November 2019
Why: fundraise for youth homeless charity

Who are St Basils?

Helping over 5,000 young people per year, St Basils is a charity based in Birmingham, but we also cover Solihull, Coventry, Warwickshire and North Worcestershire.  We work with young people aged 16-25 to help break the cycle of homelessness, offering a range of prevention, accommodation and support services.

Venues are asked to put a dish on the menu for the month of November (or part of that month) and donate part of the cost of the dish to St Basils.  Basils Month replaces the charity’s previous ‘Souper Week’ fundraiser, widening the scope to include all sorts of basil-related dishes.  Pesto, strawberry & basil, basil panna cotta, basil also goes really well with chicken, pasta and white fish too. Alternatively, venues would be welcome to stick to the traditional tomato and basil soup.  Or perhaps a basil-flavoured drink?

Basils Month will run from 1st November and end 30th November, just before the Christmas rush. But if venues are feeling generous enough to put a dish on their Christmas menu we would be very appreciative.  We’re asking venues to donate 10% of the cost of the dish, or more.

St Basils will publicise which establishments are taking part via social media and can send venues a fundraising pack with all the stuff needed to promote the event.

Award-winning food blog, Full to the Brum, will be supporting Basils Month and venues can expect promotion on their basil-themed dishes there and we hope to engage local media with the fundraising event too.
