DLA Piper in Birmingham’s incredible support totals almost £9K in recent years and £35K overall

DLA Piper are a global Law firm with passionate staff who have proved to us many times that they really care about helping their local community.

The firm have supported us with generous financial donations since 2003 and have been regular attenders of our fundraising events, including submitting several teams for many years for our Summer Walk Challenge. In that time DLA Piper Birmingham have raised an absolutely staggering £35,000!

DLA Piper in Birmingham partnered with us officially for 2019, making us their ‘Office Charity of the Year’ and raising almost £9000 through a variety of events, including attending our BIG Brum Sleepout and their own event; a Treasure Hunt around Birmingham City Centre. DLA Piper’s staff and clients took part in the Treasure Hunt, submitting teams of 5. The event utilised an app similar to the Pokemon Go app where participants had to travel to a set location in the city centre to open up a digital treasure chest with questions to answer which would then score them points. All in all this was a very innovative, fun and successful fundraising event!

DLA Piper have continued to support us unofficially this year, making further financial donations. In such a difficult year when we have had to cancel all our usual fundraising events, this support has been invaluable.   These donations have gone towards supporting our Life Skills and Employability programmes, as well as the adaptions we have had to make this year to ensure the important support to improve skills of our young people could continue through distanced learning online.

Senior Business and Communities Executive Sian Dhillon said:

“The support we’ve had from DLA Piper Birmingham and their staff over the years has been just incredible and has helped countless young people complete their Life Skills qualifications, gain employability skills, improve their confidence and ultimately their future lives and prospects. Financial donations of this scale really do make such a difference. Thank you so much for all your support and for partnering us in recent years.”

Trevor Ivory, DLA Piper’s Birmingham Office Managing Partner said:

“DLA Piper is passionate about making a difference to the lives of young people in our local community and I’m proud that our team has significantly contributed to the valuable work that St Basils does in the West Midlands”.
