This is Sis (pictured centre). An ex-St Basils resident who has got in touch recently to tell us she will be running the Great North Run on Sunday 9th September 2018 to raise money for St Basils! Read Sis’s story on her Just Giving page and see why we’re so touched by this:
“St Basils are a charity who help homeless young people and from personal experience, I can honestly say they do an amazing job”.
“Due to very difficult personal circumstances, I found myself in need of their help when I was 16. They were non-judgemental and provided me with temporary accommodation. Throughout my short stay, they supported me to help build a new life for myself. The team were always there to offer a hand or ear with personal issues, my wellbeing and finding a home for me to begin my new journey. It didn’t end there, they were always available to offer help and support when I left. That was 32 years ago. I am proud to say today I have grown tremendously and have my own happy ever after…..
….I’m in training for the GNR and although I won a ballot place, I see this as an opportunity to raise some money for a worthwhile charity. They gave me so much and I hope to give them something back in return.
They help over 5,000 young people a year to build a brighter future. I’m happy to say, I was one of them.”
