We have a number of schemes helping young people do this including our life skills and employability programmes, as well as our award winning Live and Work scheme delivered in partnership with Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust.
We heard today that sadly, though perhaps unsurprisingly, this country is now officially in a recession, and we know from previous experience that with the least skills and experience to draw on this will disproportionately affect young people’s ability to compete for jobs meaning rising youth unemployment.
Fundraising for phase 2
We are currently in the process of fundraising for phase 2 of our Live and Work Youth Village, bringing adjacent blocks to the original scheme back into use as affordable accommodation for young workers or those on apprenticeship schemes with our partners. We are being heavily supported by Landaid in our ambition to raise enough money to complete these works.
Can your business help?
If your business is interested in helping out with this through fundraising for us (and we have a number of virtual fundraising ideas and challenges that can be done at home for people to take part in) please get in touch with us: fundraising@stbasils.org.uk
In the meantime, in case you missed it, here’s Jean to explain more about our Live and Work scheme:
