Pallet Track prepares for the Big SleepOut to raise thousands for St Basils

A team from Pallet-Track is getting ready to brave the elements as they take part in this years’ Big SleepOut to raise money for the youth homelessness charity St Basils.

Six volunteers from the Wolverhampton-based logistics firm will take on the chilly challenge on the night of December 3 in support of St Basils, which provides help for young people who are homeless or are at risk of homelessness.

The volunteers, including Pallet-Track chief executive Caroline Green, will spend 12 hours on the street in a cardboard box with just a sleeping bag and the clothes they have on.

St Basils is Pallet-Track’s nominated charity for 2021 and is the sole beneficiary of all its fundraising efforts this year.

Commenting on the sleepout, Chief Executive Caroline said:

“This year marks the 31st annual sleepout and it will be Pallet-Track’s first time joining the cause.

“While I’m sure we will greatly welcome the hot drinks and food provided for us by the charity, we know it will be a real challenge with the cold December weather and the unpredictable forecast. However, this is just a small thing we can do to help prevent young people from having to do for it for real.

“I’m really proud of how many people have stepped up and volunteered to sleep rough to help us raise money – the more volunteers we have, the more money we are able to raise, which we know will make all the difference for St Basils and the young people they help.”

This charity event is just one of many that Pallet-Track has undertaken to raise money for St Basils, with August seeing a group of 20 cyclists take to the road and brave a ride in the non-stop torrential rain for 127 miles from Wigan to Wolverhampton.

The award-winning network has already raised more than £15,000 for the charity this year. If you’d like to show your support, you can make a donation by visiting www.justgiving.com/fundraising/pallet-track.
