St Basils has an exciting new opportunity for an Exploitation and Homelessness Prevention Coordinator to be based at our Youth Hub in Birmingham. The Coordinator will set up and deliver a new project focused on the provision of direct support to young adults aged 18-24 at St Basils where there are concerns or indicators of exploitation.  You will develop a best-practice response to that cohort, focusing on direct service provision, second tier advice, and the improvement of wider practice at St Basils.

 

This is a full time, 12 month fixed term opportunity working 37.5 hours per week.

 

Salary: £26,137 – £27,865 per annum, pro rata

At St Basils we help over 5,000 vulnerable young people every year across the West Midlands to find safe, stable accommodation. This is a fantastic opportunity to support the immediate needs of young people and to showcase your caring nature and ability to champion adversity. This role requires expert knowledge and experience of working with vulnerable people as well as a core understanding of issues surrounding youth homelessness such as mental health, domestic violence and care leavers.

Key activities and challenges specific to the role include:

 

  • Work with partners to agree and implement clear and practical survivor pathways for 18-24s in Birmingham
  • Hold a small caseload of complex cases, including the potential for a rapid response where homelessness and/or risk is a significant factor
  • Support St Basils to implement their modern slavery pathway, including the delivery of training and developing a ‘Champions’ mode’
  • To initiate contact with young people via street outreach city wide.

  • Hold a small caseload of complex cases, including the potential for a rapid response where homelessness and/or risk is a significant factor

The Coordinator will set up and deliver a new project focused on the provision of direct support to young adults aged 18-24 at St Basils where there are concerns or indicators of exploitation.  You will develop a best-practice response to that cohort, focusing on direct service provision, second tier advice, and the improvement of wider practice at St Basils.

Salary: £26,137 – £27,865 per annum, pro rata

This is a fantastic opportunity to support the immediate needs of young people and to showcase your caring nature and ability to champion adversity. This role requires expert knowledge and experience of working with vulnerable people as well as a core understanding of issues surrounding youth homelessness such as mental health, domestic violence and care leavers.
