St Basil’s has the exciting opportunity for a Homeless Relief Engagement Navigator to join us on a fixed term, full time basis until 31 March 2021.

 

Salary: £22,376- £23,873 PER ANNUM PRO RATA

St Basils is funded in partnership with Birmingham Children’s Trust, Birmingham Youth Offending Service (YOS), and Housing Department to meet their key objectives and to prevent youth homelessness.

Birmingham Childrens Trust (BCT) have secured funding from MHCLG/DFE for young people rough sleeping or at high risk of rough sleeping, until the 31st Mar 2021. This funding will have a focus on the “Prevention” of Care Leavers rough sleeping by:

  • Working closely with Personal Advisors to identify those care leavers precariously housed and needing additional support to maintain their current accommodation or source alternatives.
  • Preventing care leavers becoming homeless, having a strong trajectory to the streets or rough sleeping in the first instance.
  • Providing a swift response to those found to be rough sleeping regardless of which local authority they present from.

We would like to appoint a Homeless Relief Engagement Navigator to be based within the current Under 25’s Rough Sleepers Service. The post would assist those care leavers that are found to be rough sleeping or precariously housed and have a strong trajectory to the streets. These young people will be identified as requiring intensive engagement and support to identify and sustain their accommodation.

 

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

 

-To work as part of the under 25’s rough sleepers team to have a positive impact on rough sleeping numbers and in particular those whom are care experienced.

-To work closely with Personal Advisors and where the young person has lost contact attempt to re-engage them with the responsible Local Authority.

-To support young people to remain in their home or secure alternative suitable accommodation to prevent rough sleeping.

-To work in partnership with statutory and voluntary agencies in order to ensure needs are met.

-To cultivate positive social circles and be better equipped to maintain their accommodation and independence and avoid returning to the street.

-To support young people in their recovery to find employment, undertake training and develop budgeting skills.

 

In return for your skills and experience, St Basils are able to offer the following:

28 days annual leave, plus 8 Statutory Bank holidays per annum, pro rata.

  • Working closely with Personal Advisors to identify those care leavers precariously housed and needing additional support to maintain their current accommodation or source alternatives.
