St Basils works with young people aged 16-25 who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, helping over 5000 young people per year across the West Midlands region with specific services in Birmingham, Sandwell, Solihull, Walsall, Warwickshire, Worcestershire, the Wyre Forest and Coventry. This is a fantastic opportunity to support the immediate needs of young people within St Basils’ care.
Key activities and challenges specific to the role include:
- To enable young people to sustain their tenancy and equip them in relation to taking responsibility for their property.
- To help maximize and retain young people’s income.
- To enable young people to pay their rent and service charge.
- To take responsibility for safeguarding the welfare of young people.
- To inform support staff of any support needs or concerns you may have identified for young people.
- To be responsible for arranging and conducting young people’s admissions visits to the service and the induction of new residents.
- To undertake a range of administrative tasks such as recording payments, voids checklists, health and safety inspections, etc.
- To be flexible by being available out of hours on a rota basis to offer information, advice and guidance to colleagues, and where necessary provide emergency cover within projects.

- Relevant NVQ 3 in Care, Advice & Guidance or any other equivalent qualification (Housing Management qualification)
- Car Driver
- Experience of working with young people in the following settings:
Youth Work, Residential or Social Work, Probation/Criminal justice, Community Work, Education and Training, housing or support work.
- Experience of supervising volunteers or students.
- Up to date knowledge of welfare rights, resources etc.
- Able to understand the difference between friendship and support.
