Kalamazoo IT employees announce St Basils as their chosen Charity partner

The employees of Kalamazoo IT have selected St Basils as their new charity partner, as they announced via a recent blog post. This national organisation has it’s HQ in Birmingham.

The partnership, starting on 3rd June, will see Kalamazoo employees take part in St Basils regular events throughout the year as well as local fundraising activities to support the charity’s work.

“We are delighted that a firm as prestigious as Kalamazoo has agreed to make us their charity of choice to support. Every penny they raise will go towards improving the lives of young people in the West Midlands. And we can’t wait to share the pictures from when they take part in forthcoming events” Sian Dhillon – Business and Communities Executive for St Basils

St Basils were selected following a staff vote reaching all Kalamazoo IT employees.

“In various media channels, there have been lots of news stories and references to homelessness and how it has been on the increase, when walking around Birmingham city centre you witness that first hand (as you will in any major city). We are thrilled Kalamazoo IT employees voted St Basils as their charity partner. Everyone is looking forward to working together to raise as much money as we can to help St Basils provide even more incredible support for even more people.” Rod Taylor, Managing Director – Kalamazoo IT

Nominating St Basils, the submission from a Kalamazoo employee read:

“They are a charity that help young people who are either homeless or at risk of homelessness. It offers lots of support to young people including emergency shelter alongside life skills support and workplace initiatives.

I personally know someone who was homeless at the age of 16 and they did not have the help that a charity like this offers. I think it is important to be able to support young people and give them the opportunity to move forward from problems within their own home/personal life that have put them at risk.”
