St Basils is a charity and housing association that works with young people aged 16-25 who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, to enable them to find and keep a home, grow their confidence, develop their skills, increase opportunities and prevent homelessness.

Birmingham Youth Hub (BYH) is delivering the Advice and Wellbeing Hub to young people aged 16 to 25 years old. This service offers information, advice and guidance to any young person who is precariously housed and:

  • Mental or physical health issues
  • Offending behaviour
  • Substance misuse
  • Fleeing Domestic Violence (DV)
  • Rough sleeping

Your Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) assessment can take place over the phone or face to face.  Please get in touch to arrange this.

  • Support with debt advice and money management
  • Build relationships and access your community

What you need for your appointment:

    • Proof of ID (birth certificate, biometric card, passport drivers licence)
    • Proof of income or eligibility (UC claim, payslips)
    • Proof of pregnancy if applicable

BYH wants to support and enable young people to find and keep a home, grow in confidence, develop skills, increase opportunities and prevent homelessness.

BYH can offer support to

    • Advise and signpost to specialist services, including mental health services, benefits
    • Access education, training or employment services
    • Access health and wellbeing services
    • Access support from the Lead Worker service

BYH can also refer for a statutory assessment if the young person is homeless or at risk of homelessness within 56 days. This is an assessment in line with the Homelessness Reduction Act.

BYH also has access to an accommodation finding team which refers to

    • Commissioned accommodation for young people
    • Live and Work schemes
    • Rent deposit schemes

If you are at risk due to family conflict, family breakdown or friends/ family no longer letting you stay, then our Sandwell Family Mediation Service can assist.

A Mediator will:

  • Work with you to resolve conflict
  • Help you remain / return  to the family home  (if safe to do so)
  • Assist with Interim accommodation within the family home until alternative accommodation can be found
  • Help to improve relationships with people who are important to you when you have left home

St Basils Family Mediation Service offers:

  • One to One Mediation Session
  • Family Mediation Meetings
  • One to One Support (when required)
  • Advocacy on your behalf
  • Rapid Response Service
  • Signposting to Specialist Agencies
