Sheets Not StreetsChristmas Appeal 2018: Give the gift of a good night’s sleep!

We are today launching a new appeal for Christmas 2018.

This is something we are desperately in need of.

In the course of a year we house up to 1200 individuals.

Our costs per year just to provide bedding and clean sheets can be over £20,000!

So this Christmas we’re asking for donations of brand new sheets and brand new bedding to give young people a cosy bed and a good night’s sleep.

To take part in our Christmas appeal, please donate one (or more) of the following:

  • A) 1 SET SINGLE BEDDING - 1 brand new pillow and 1 brand new single duvet
  • B) 1 SET SINGLE SHEETS - 1 brand new pillowcase and a matching single duvet cover and 1 brand new single fitted sheet or
  • C) 1 SET DOUBLE BEDDING - 1 brand new pillow and 1 brand new double duvet
  • D) 1 SET DOUBLE SHEETS - 2 brand new pillowcases and 1 brand new double duvet cover and 1 brand new double fitted sheet

Only 100 of our beds are doubles, the rest are singles.

You could perhaps purchase one item but then join together with others at school, Scouts, work or at church to put together a set or several sets to donate.

This will make such a difference to St Basils and homeless young people – thank you!

Why does the bedding have to be new?

Your donation will be treated as a gift to a young person to help them settle into their new accommodation.

Donations of second hand bedding have to be professionally laundered (at cost) to comply with health and safety standards. However, we consult our young people on what’s important to them and something as simple as having new bedding means a lot to them.

Young people also keep their bedding and sheets and take it with them as they move on from our services, this helps them settle in to their new accommodation so it doesn't seem so strange.

Please gift young people a good night's sleep this Christmas.

Or if this appeal isn't for you there are plenty of other ways to help us.

Delivering your items

Please contact us to make us aware of your forthcoming donation.

Unfortunately except in exceptional circumstances (or an extremely large donation) we are unable to assist with collections.

Please drop off your donation at our Head Office. Please call ahead on the day with an ETA especially if you have a large donation so we can make sure there are enough people available to help you unload. Our Head Office is open Monday-Friday 8.30am - 5pm.
