Working with young people
We are currently looking for a Volunteer mentor to provide support to young people aged 16-25 through our Supported Lodgings scheme.
Our volunteer mentors assist in a range of different ways. After a shadowing period, in which you will observe a Support Worker, you will be supporting clients to complete forms, documents and applications. Responsibilities may include:
- Provide accommodation education, training, benefits information, budgeting guidance.
- Make referrals to other agencies for specialist support.
- Maintain regular contact with young people and accompany young people to appointments where required.
Experience of working with young people is beneficial, but not essential.
If you are interested in the youth mentor volunteering role, with Supported Lodgings please contact Jonathan Crust via Jonathan.Crust@stbasils.org.uk
Fundraising
Occasionally we are in need of volunteers to help marshal our events and with other fundraising opportunities. Examples include working at our German Market stall, making warm and comforting teas and coffees for our dedicated sleepouters at our annual Big Sleepout, or marshalling Hikes in the wonderful Peak and Lake districts at our annual Hike for Homeless.
If you are interested in volunteering for our fundraising team, please contact them at fundraising@stbasils.org.uk with your name, contact information, and why you’re passionate about helping St Basils.
