St Basils launches new initiative to help young people access Construction training and jobs

St Basils has launched a new initiative to help young people access Construction training and jobs, called ‘St Basils Construction Gateway’.

St Basils Construction Gateway acts something like a recruitment agency. It outsources Employment and training opportunities in the community specifically for young people that live within or are being supported by St Basils.

Opportunities offered may take the form of:StBasilsConstructionAgencyReferralForm (1)

  • Full time/part time employment
  • Work Experience
  • Trade based training
  • Apprenticeships
  • Traineeships

How does it work?

Young people

Any young person interested in joining the gateway programme needs to fill out and send back a St Basils Construction application form alongside an up to date copy of their CV, and will then be invited for interview.

In return job seekers signed up to St Basils Construction Gateway will be the first to get offers of employment, apprenticeships or relevant training needed to get employment offers.

As a St Basils young person you will be supported through-out the process of applying, being interviewing and settling in to your new role by St Basils staff.

Employers

St Basils Construction Gateway is a free service that maybe able to help with your construction staffing needs.

Are you looking for staff? Apprentices? Trainees? Or could you give the next generations of construction workers the chance to pick up some new skills by offering work experience? Then why not give us a try.

St Basils works with young people aged 16-25 who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, helping over 5000 young people per year across the West Midlands region with specific services in Birmingham, Sandwell, Solihull, Walsall, Warwickshire, Worcestershire, the Wyre Forest and Coventry.

For these young people training and employment often proves to be the best way for them to break the ‘no home, no job, no home’ cycle that homelessness can so easily trap them in and help them get their lives back on track.

We have lots of keen young people at St Basils with transferable skills, who just need someone to give them a chance.

If you are looking for staff and interested in what we can offer, then please do not hesitate to get in contact:
