Just Over 5 Weeks To Go!

Hi {FIRST NAME} and {758674_NAMEOFDOG},

Welcome to your weekly Woofs update! From today, we’ll be sending a mailer out every week with all the latest event info, plus a behind-the-scenes look at the life-changing work we do at St Basils.

With just over 5 weeks to go, we can’t wait to see you and your four-legged friend in action at this year’s Woofs! It’s going to be an exciting day filled with tail wags, jumps, and a whole lot of fun – all while raising vital funds for our cause.

Now is the perfect time to get your pup prepped for the event ahead, and also for you to start spreading the word to boost your fundraising. Every pound you raise will make a real difference in the lives of young people experiencing homelessness.

Why We Do What We Do:

Each year, St Basils helps over 4,000+ young people through a range of tailored services, including supported accommodation, training and education, and employment opportunities. Our mission is not only to provide a safe place to stay, but also to equip young people with the skills and resilience they need to break the cycle of homelessness for good.

Right now, St Basils is short of £8.93 per young person, per night. But by taking part in Woofs 2025, you are helping us to close that gap – giving young people a chance to rebuild their lives and hope for a brighter future. Just one night at St Basils can be life-changing.

What You Need To Know:

Brand new for 2025 – we’ve put together a Woofs Event Pack! Inside, you’ll find everything you need to know about the event, plus plenty of fundraising tips and tricks to help you make an even bigger impact.

To view the event pack, visit: Solihull Woofs 2025

Get Excited For…

We love seeing pups show off their personality, so dog fancy dress is highly encouraged!

Whether it’s a superhero cape, a stylish bandana, or a full-on costume, we can’t wait to see your creative looks. There might even be a prize for the best-dressed pup…

This Weeks Small Task:

Let your pup do all the barking!

Upload a photo of {758674_NAMEOFDOG} as your profile picture, and ask for donations on their behalf. Who could say no that cute face?

That’s it for this week! Thank you again for being part of Woofs 2025 – we can’t wait to meet you and {758674_NAMEOFDOG}. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please get in touch via: fundraising@stbasils.org.uk

Just Over 4 Weeks To Go!

Hi {FIRST NAME} and {758674_NAMEOFDOG},

The countdown is on! In just over four weeks, you will be taking on St Basils’ Woofs 2025, to help raise vital funds for young people facing homelessness. We hope you’re getting excited – because we certainly are!

If you’re new to the event or think you may have missed any key details, don’t worry – you can catch up on our previous mailers, here: Woofs Previous Mailers.

Why We Do What We Do:

The Table Analogy

Most people assume homelessness will never affect them, and thankfully, that’s true for the majority. However, for many, it’s a very real possibility. Studies last year showed nearly half of renters are just one paycheck away from being homeless.

Think of your life as a table with four legs: health, income, support network, and housing. If one leg weakens, the table wobbles, putting strain on the others and increasing the risk of homelessness. St Basils helps young people strengthen these ‘legs’, providing support to stay balanced and secure.

Watch our video (link below) explaining the ‘table analogy’ in more detail. Please share it with friends and family, along with your fundraising page!

What You Need To Know:

Your Fundraising Page

An Enthuse fundraising page was automatically set up for you when you signed up to take part in the Big Sleepout.

To kick start your fundraising, Enthuse suggests three steps to help you collect donations…

  1. Upload a profile picture: Fundraisers with a profile picture typically raise nearly three times more, as it reassures friends and family that they’re supporting the right person. We recommend uploading a picture of {758674_NAMEOFDOG}!
  2. Share your motivation: Explaining why you’re taking on this challenge can really motivate your friends and family to make a donation. Talk about the work we do here at St Basils, and how their donation will make a difference. (Check out our social post for you to share, below!)
  3. Express gratitude to your supporters: Thanking your current and future donors is a fantastic way to show your appreciation. In fact, fundraisers who take the time to say ‘thank you’ attract 48% more donors on average! To thank you donors, simply open up your fundraising page.

Get Excited For:

The Woof Run

At the heart of this event is the Woof Run, designed for dogs of all shapes, sizes, and skill levels.

{758674_NAMEOFDOG} will have a blast navigating jumps, tunnels, and weave poles… as well as taking a dip in all the muddy puddles! Will they speed through like a champion or take their time sniffing out the best route?

You can also head to the heart of the Woofs Village, where Animal Kind will be running a have-a-go agility zone. Test your training skills and pick up expert tips and tricks to take home!

This Weeks Small Task:

This week, take a moment to post about your Woofs 2025 journey on social media. It could be a snap of your dog in training for the big day, or a message about why you’re taking part…

Here’s a post you can share:

Hello! My dog, {758674_NAMEOFDOG} and I are taking part in Woofs 2025, a dog agility challenge to help raise money for St Basils homeless charity.

@stbasilscharity provides safe accommodation and vital support to over 600+ young people across the West Mids, who are homeless or at risk of losing their home. Sadly, the charity faces a shortfall of £8.93 per young person, per night.

So if you can, please sponsor me and {758674_NAMEOFDOG} to help bridge the gap and fund as many nights as possible. Every contribution, big or small, will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you! (Insert Your Fundraising Page Link)

For young people facing homelessness, their dog can be their closest companion, offering comfort, security, and unconditional love during difficult times. That’s why we have 13 accommodation projects that allow young people to stay with their pet dogs, ensuring they don’t have to choose between a safe place to stay and their best friend.

By taking part in Woofs 2025, you’re helping to provide vital support and safe accommodation, so young people and their beloved pets can stay together on their journey to a brighter future.

“The staff at St Basils treated you with care and humility, which is how we all want to be treated, especially those of us coming from difficult backgrounds..”

Today, Cat is thriving, giving back to the community, and even supporting St Basils through their workplace. Her story is just one of many made possible by supporters like you.

Read more about Cat’s journey – and others who have rebuilt their lives – here: St Basils Success Stories.
