Harry Boniface- St Basils London Marathoner

We spoke to Harry Boniface, Assistant Land and Planning Manager for Richborough, a St Basils Charity Partner.

Harry has been a big supporter of St Basils for nearly a year, taking part in our events and going above and beyond for our young people. We asked him a few questions, on why he was motivated to take on the mammoth London Marathon for us.

“I first made contact with St Basil’s in the summer of 2023, as I was looking to run the London Marathon in aid of a local charity. I’d previously completed the Hike for Homeless for St Basils, and really enjoyed that event and learnt more about St Basils purpose and wanted to continue to fundraise for the charity.

St Basils is a great local charity which helps young people in the Birmingham area and beyond. The fact the charity focuses on the West Midlands is extremely important, as it helps those in need in the area.

I’ve always enjoyed keeping fit and healthy, and find that although whilst running, it may feel tough, when you’re finished you feel amazing.

I think the London Marathon is probably the most iconic marathon in the world. Looking at all the support runners get whilst running is really exciting! My Mum and brother Luke are running in aid of the British Heart Foundation, whilst my youngest brother Dom is running for Diabetes UK.

On the day, I’m most looking forward to the atmosphere and seeing the sights of London!

If I had any tips for St Basils runners, or those interested in taking part in a marathon, I’d suggest to start training early and not doing too much too soon. If you try to increase your distance too quickly you are likely to get injured. Also, make sure you fuel yourself properly and keep hydrated!

A massive THANK YOU and a roar of “Good Luck!”‘s from all of us at St Basils to Harry!
