New business partners Hymans Robertson share thoughts on first fundraising event Hike for Homeless

Hymans Robertson’s Birmingham office ‘helping hands’ team have committed to working with us for the next year. Their foundation has already donated a bursary of £3750 to give young people accessing education, work or training an extra financial boost. They have also committed to fundraising for us and taking part in our fundraising events and as a result took part in Hike for Homeless sponsored by IM Properties. Here’s what they thought of this their first St Basils event!

“At the end July a team of five from the Hyman’s Birmingham Office took part in St Basil’s Hike for the Homeless.”

“The team consisted of Amy Sutherland, Beth Birkin, Graham Weaver, Paul Hewitson and Toby James.”

“The hike was 24-mile walking marathon (more like 26!) over the beautiful Warwickshire countryside and conditions were perfect.”

“Here is Toby’s view of the day:”

“The Hike for Homeless walking challenge was a superbly organised event through glorious local countryside. The incredible views as the footpaths turned towards Kenilworth castle went some way to making the pain in our sore feet seem worthwhile. Tackling the long, full marathon distance, challenge felt so easy during training. On the day things are never so simple. Afterwards your joints will ache, and your feet will never want to touch the ground again, but you’ll look back on your walk with pride, with fond memories, finishing it as a team (and the pint of cider as we crossed the finish line was good too!).”

With matched funding the team have raised just over £2000, which is a fantastic amount and bodes really well for the rest of the partnership!
