St Basils Chief Executive supports Forward in Unity artwork depicting Brum’s community spirit

St Basils Chief Executive Jean Templeton was recently contacted by Art for Charity to be one of the chosen ‘upstanding members of the local community’ to sign a print of the iconic ‘Forward in Unity’ mural located on Meridan Street in Digbeth.

Jean was very pleased to be asked to sign this and we are very happy to show our support for this fantastic piece of artwork capturing brilliantly Birmingham’s community spirit and response in tackling this problem.

The prints are to be sold to raise money for local good causes.

On its JustGiving page Art for Charity describes how this incredible project came about. It reads; “Art for Charity is the combined brainchild of Paul Cadman, Prof of Entrepreneurship at BCU, and Nathaniel Hanna, co-founder of Melting Pot Birmingham.” The artwork is down to Gent48, Birmingham’s own world-renowned street artist.

“In these unprecedented times, Birmingham moves forward in unity, demonstrating the indomitable spirit in the face of adversity that characterises the city. Gent48 has encapsulated this attitude in the perfect portrayal of the city’s ethos in defeating COVID-19.

In addition to a much-needed morale boost, his artwork serves at the centrepiece of an opportunity to help those in need.”
