Coronavirus statement: A message to our supporters

Our work helping vulnerable young people continues. Please donate if you can.

Statement from St Basils Spokesperson Barrie Hodge:

As you will be aware, the Coronavirus continues to take hold of life across the country.  It is impacting lives in ways we never thought possible.  People are rightly concerned as to what the impact is going to be, whether it be financial, to their health and to their own quality of life.

Charities across the country are faced with increasingly tough choices.  As the situation evolves, we are having to make decisions which ultimately impact our ability to fundraise.  Events are cancelled or delayed and people’s ability to donate money is hindered because they are having to make difficult choices themselves.

We absolutely understand the reasons why charity isn’t at the forefront of people’s minds at the moment.  But, the work that St Basils does continues, regardless of whether this virus exists or not.  That work requires us to fundraise and one of the main ways we do this is through our events.  We will be in regular contact with you over the next few weeks to keep you informed of what is happening with those.

Also, we are currently working on a range of fun activities that you can do if you do have to self isolate during this time.  These are designed primarily with you in mind, but also can be used to raise money for our cause, should you wish to do so  As you will appreciate, this outbreak could have devastating implications for our fundraising capabilities.  That is why we are reaching out to you to ask that you keep St Basils in your thoughts at this time.  As we say, the work we do continues, regardless.

We want to hear your ideas!

We would love to hear from you about the different ways you think we could raise money during this time.  We have found in the past that the best ideas always come from our supporters.   If you have any ideas you would like to share with us please do so via fundraising@stbasils.org.uk.

Please donate if you can

And, If you feel you are able to donate to us (and please only do so if you can absolutely afford it) you can do so at stbasils.org.uk/donate  Every single donation has such a positive impact on the young people we support.

On behalf of all those young people we support across the West Midlands, thank you.
